TED.COM: Lisa Gansky: The future of business is the "mesh"
After viewing this motivational video, I have been inspired to
make a change in the world by using the Internet to globalize my future
business A Given Vision Productions and Promotions. (TED.COM, 2010). The
inspirational video clips lead me to another motivational speaker by the name
of Lisa Gansky. In an Internet video, Gansky (2011) states that the
future of business is all about sharing all kinds of stuff, either smart and
tech enabled rental or, more boldly, peer-to-peer. According to Gansky, “A brand is a voice and a product is a souvenir.” Lisa Gansky company
website http://meshing.it/categories/23-entertainment
is a resource for sharing entertainment industry multimedia files to global
economy.
What
is MESH? According to Gansky (2011) site, traditional businesses follow a
simple formula: create product or service, sell it, and collect money. Gansky
mentions how in the last few years a different business model has taken root,
but allowing consumers to have more choices, more tools, more information, and
more peer-to-peer power. Pioneer entrepreneur Lisa Gansky calls it MESH and
reveals it will soon dominate the future of business.

MAKING BUCK$ IN HOLLYWOOD
MAKING BUCK$ IN HOLLYWOOD
Based on Perkins (2007) article, the author states,“ If you want to
know how the money flows in Hollywood as a talent agent.” After Perkins
interviewed two top agencies in the digital entertainment market: Powerhouse
Creative Artists Agency (CAA), and venerable Williams Morris. Perkins found out
in his research that technology business, goals is to get upside in a
percentage of ownership in the company an individual is interested in investing
in.
The (2007) article about making bucks in Hollywood, goes in detail
about the economic model in the center more around individual talent and single
productions, rather than the ongoing business that grow over time. In the
traditional entertainment industry model, talent agents make 101050/0 of the
income earned by the talent they represent. Faced with the new Internet boom,
it took agencies a while to figure out how to make a living Silicon Valley
style.
In the (2007) article the author give an example of musician Joe
Firstman, who was dropped by Atlantic Records. Thanks to the Web Joe Firstman
can empower himself and sell his own records.
People everyday are doing using the web to sell their services. The gray area between not having a job and
having a traditional media is wide op now.

To continue from my last week's weblog discussion about (PEST) analyze. I found an article from the BET website educating the community about the Politics of the rights to vote for 2012. With the 2012 elections around the corner, some entertainers had somehow found their way to give back to the community by enlighten other about the rights to vote.
According to BET (2012) weblog, the rapper Tauheed "2Chainz"Epps is teaming up with the Hip Hop Caucus as a spokesperson for educating young voters on the ex-felon voting rights in the 2012 Respect My Voice! Campaign.

(PEST) Analysis
In today’s Entertainment market, organizations strategically
plan for the future. This post today will cover a technique called Political,
Economical, Social, and Technological (PEST) Analysis. Similarly, a Strength,
Weakness, Opportunity, Tools (SWOT) analysis is another method organizations use
to evaluate their business operations.
For the most part of this post I will cover the PEST
analysis method in regard to the Entertainment and Media industry base on the
political, economical, social and technology standpoint.
1.
Political-
According to Carmody (1995), “Politics
has become a part of pop culture…popularize politics for the their generation
in much the same way that MTV and television programs like The Late Show with
David Letterman do”. This article is a good example of how media and politics
make information about the public issues accessible to make the people feel
included.
2.
Economical
and Social –Weforum.org (2012) focuses on the industry overall representing
both an economic and social powerful agent of change. According to this site
the industry is facing more changes than ever before, and it is therefore
critical to combine the efforts of all stakeholders to address the media
revolutions. The business environment is sustainable because of the dialogue
and partnership among different stakeholders. Social Media study’s estimates
that 90% of China on the Internet uses social media sites, on the contrary over
70% in the United States.
3.
Technology- according to the Digital
Ecosystem covers how the framework for economic and social development, the
online environment must command trust in terms of privacy, security and protections
from harmful content. With identity theft and fraud increasing daily. Advance
technologies are in place to protect users and their transactions online.
In summary, PEST analysis is a good method used to research
the market overall from a global business perspective.

According
to Media & Entertainment Services Alliances (2012), " Information Technology enables Transformation of
Hollywood. The demand for content on

of the marketplace. In the section titled The Emerging, Expanded Role of the
Chief Information Officers (CIO), how (CIO) address key initiatives such as the

In the last
section of this blog the author explain how the restructuring for digital, mobile
and social media is affected. The author
explains in the (2012) blog how businesses
can achieve alignment of supporting functions for digital distribution of film,
TV, and home entertainment in order to maximize revenue in the global
marketplace, reduce time to market, and eliminate redundancies in the divisions
of the overall business. Implementing an revenue-driven business model for a
consumer-centric marketplace help yield dividends.
The digital world has brought
the consumer closer to the studio where the internet has become a universal
channel of distributions. Having a web presence provides product information
for client to reach 24 hours a day.
